Signs you’ve found the man you should marry
HE may not be the cutie your mother insisted you find so she can have beautiful grandchildren; but if he rocks your boat better than it has ever been rocked, he may be a winner.
We’ve all heard the saying that while we’re out searching, our soulmates could be right under our noses, and for some people this has proven true. The man you should marry doesn’t have to be the prince you’ve dreamt of all your life; in fact fate could have other plans for you.
“Don’t spend your time idealistically searching for Mr Right as the man who has everything in order such as good looks, finances and a stellar gene pool,” said counsellor David Anderson.
“Everyone has flaws, and as such you need to look beyond the physical, look behind the ideals, and see the other things — like a good heart.”
How do you know you’ve found the man you should marry?
He completes you
Leonie Fuller, 32, accountant:
This is the man who has your back, who you can’t imagine living without. If he’s your rock, the one you can rely on for everything, in sickness and in health, then that’s your guy. Even if he’s poor as a churchmouse and with looks that could kill, once he has your back, he completes you.
He supports you
Elizabeth Clarke, 40, cashier:
This is not just financial support, but emotional solace above all else. A supportive man will help you realise your dreams, working with you every step of the way. If he has always been your go-to guy to boost you up, then he may be your Mr Right.
He respects you
Lori Stuart, 36, waitress:
Aretha said it well — respect is paramount in a relationship. He should respect you as a woman, as a mate, as the mother of his children. He should respect you when you’re not around, by always speaking positively about you.
He adores you
Michelle Lee, 28, stocktaker:
To this man, you’re everything. You should be his best friend, the only one who makes him tick. Having a man adore you is even greater than love.
He sees you as his teammate
Kim Fields, 23, housewife:
A man should see the family unit as a team, with both partners striving to make the team successful. When a man sees you as an equal part of a team — an equal decision maker etc, then he’s a keeper. Sure he’s the head of the household, but he also understands that you’re the heart, and the head is nothing without the heart.
He’s considerate
Karene McKay, 49, construction worker:
This man is not only considerate to you as his partner, but he’s a considerate lover as well. Marry the man who will ensure that both of you find pleasure in the union with each other and no one else.
